I am a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the School of Art and Design. I focus on developing technology initiatives for the School of Art and Design to support faculty in integrating technology into their teaching practice. I also co-teach Digital Literacy for Designers (with my partner in crime, Kurt Vega), the first interdisciplinary experimental course at FIT. Eight years ago, I initiated the Digital Spa, a technology summer camp for the faculty in the School of Art and Design. This summer, Digital Spa focused on Domain of One’s Own. If you want to read more about this year’s spa or previous ones, go to digitalspa.org the domain we built for this initiative. In 2011, I had a sabbatical and returned to school at Teachers College, Columbia University. I completed my M.Ed in Instructional Technology and Media, and have now completed my coursework for the Doctoral program in Communication, Media, Learning Technologies Design. My area of research is digital literacy in higher education, from a pedagogical, political and socio-cultural perspective.
